Jun 18, 2020 · With Direct Pay, you have to go through the identity verification stuff and enter your account numbers each and every time you want to make a payment and you can make payments up to 30 (I think) days in advance. You can make payments online only. If you are making a one-time payment, Direct Pay is the way to go.

Jan 12, 2022 · Hi, after looking over that link that is an official link that clearly says at the bottom: " IRS Direct Pay won't accept more than two payments within a 24-hour period, and each payment must be less than $10 million. For larger electronic payments, use EFTPS or same-day wire." Safe to say you can use either option.

Jun 26, 2021 · Direct Pay can be used right away. EFTPS takes some time to initially set up the account and link it to your bank account. I have never used Direct Pay but I think it is straightforward but limited to making one-off payments. EFTPS allows you to create and schedule multiple transactions. I use EFTPS to set up all my estimated payments at once.

If you are self-employed and file Schedule C, you are paying personal income taxes, not corporate taxes. You may use Direct Pay or EFTPS, whichever you prefer. Make the payments under the SSN of the first person who will be listed on your tax return. If you use EFTPS, open a personal account with your SSN, not a business or corporate account.
