Jan 8, 2012 · Keep in mind that while the "average" of junk silver is .715 ozs per dollar face value, the actual weight of an uncirculated coin is .723 ozs per dollar face value. The less worn a coin is, the more silver in it. Thus, half dollars, being less worn, tend to have more silver in them in regards to actual weight. To err is human, to ARGH! is pirate.
