House Republican leaders still faced about a dozen holdouts on the day they wanted to push the budget plan through Congress.

U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani, who represents a swing district in southern Arizona, wrote in a statement after the vote that the budget “advances the agenda Republicans ran on,” but he reiterated his “commitment to protecting essential services” such as Medicaid.

Republicans will need to come together on the meat of their package of tax cuts, energy policy, border security investments and new military spending.
