Clarksville moviegoers will soon have a movie theatre again as Phoenix Theatres invests $5 million in upgrades at former AMC theatre at the mall.

Shots were fired outside the mall, but no injuries have been reported, according to CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien.

The independently-owned movie theater signed a long-term lease to offer newly released movies and high-quality amenities at Governor's Square Mall as soon as the summer of 2025.

Shots were fired outside of Governor's Square Mall in Clarksville this morning, leading to widespread, inaccurate social media reports of an active shooter on the scene. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Just after 10:45 a.m., the Clarksville Police Department (CPD) responded to a report of shots fired at the mall. CPD said the shooting was initially believed to have occurred inside the building, however, witnesses said the incident took place outside on a nearby perimeter road.
