A faulty cooking vessel at the Givaudan Sense Colour plant in Clifton was responsible for a deadly explosion that killed two and injured 11 workers last week. That’s according to investigators who briefed media on the status of the investigation Monday.

A piece of equipment at the Givaudan plant on Payne Street likely overheated before it burst, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The factory explosion that killed two workers in Louisville, Kentucky, last week was caused by a failed cooking vessel, officials said Monday.

Investigators report that a cooking vessel failure caused the deadly explosion at Givaudan Sense Colour. The FOX affiliate in Louisville, WDRB, said the blast occurred around 3 p.m. on Nov. 12. Residents were urged to shelter in place and reported shattered windows in the nearby Clifton neighborhood.
