The St. Louis Cardinals have been surrounded by trade rumors all winter, as they are seemingly set to embrace a period centered around shedding payroll.

While the Cardinals would surely prefer to trade Arenado quickly, the eight-time All-Star sees no need to rush into a decision.

Katie Woo of the Athletic explained how complicated the whole situation surrounding Nolan Arenado and the St. Louis Cardinals has become.

The Cardinals were working on sending Arenado, who has three years and $74 million left on his current contract, and $15-20 million to Houston until the eight-time All-Star told the club he wouldn’t waive his no-trade clause, per the report.

Arenado was never fully comfortable with being dealt to the Astros and, sources say, does not want to rush into a trade decision.
