Heading into the 2024-25 season, there were plenty of fans who didn’t want to see Mitch Marner play another game with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Marner led trade talks for quite some time during the offseason before ultimately sticking with the Maple Leafs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that forward Calle Jarnkrok underwent groin and sports hernia surgery and will be sidelined month-to-month. Jarnkrok, 33, has been on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) since the start of the 2024–25 season and has yet to play a game this year.

Recently, the Toronto Maple Leafs have had some absences in the lineup requiring the team to call up players from the minors. At the moment, the Leafs have three forwards out with an injury.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been red hot despite missing their captain over the last six games. Without Auston Matthews on the ice, the Maple Leafs have gone 5-1-0 with forward Mitch Marner leading the way.
