Randi Mahomes, the mother of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, announced Friday that her father, Randy Martin, has died. An Legacy obituary said Martin, whose full name was Larry Randy Martin, passed away Wednesday at the age of 78 and a funeral is planned for Monday.

Just five days removed from the Super Bowl 2025, Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather, Randy Martin, has died. Randi Mahomes, Patrick’s mother, broke the news on Instagram on Friday.

Randi’s mother, Debbie Bates Martin, died in April 2023 at age 72. Before the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl, she paid tribute to her late mother on Instagram. She wrote, “Momma i know you are cheering today from Heaven. I miss you every single day.. i can hear you yelling ‘Go Patrick.'”

Patrick Mahomes, who is still navigating the Super Bowl loss, will now add the death of his grandfather to the list as he passed on today.
