Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold began trending during Super Bowl 59 for the wrong reasons. The Philadelphia Eagles made Patrick Mahomes look mortal, sacking him a career-high six times in a 40-22 victory.

Mahomes told AOL in 2019 that the hairstyle was the result of a friendly bet with a buddy when he was younger. They each grew out their hair and wanted to see who would go the longest before finally cutting it. “As I grew it out, I realized that I actually liked it a lot,” Mahomes told AOL Sports. “So, I kept it going.”

Nothing defines a quarterback's legacy more than a Super Bowl. While stats and personal accolades are nice, a quarterback's greatness is measured more by how he and his team perform on pro football's biggest stage.
