New Delhi Bangladesh on Thursday lodged a strong protest against what it said were “false and fabricated” statements by former premier Sheikh Hasina, currently in self-exile in New Delhi, and sought “appropriate measures” to stop her from making “incendiary” remarks on social media.

The development comes a day after Hasina's speech on Wednesday night in which she called upon the countrymen to organise a resistance against the current regime.

India condemned the demolition of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Dhaka residence, calling it vital to Bangladesh's history. The interim government linked the act to Sheikh Hasina's remarks. Dhaka protested her statements,

On Wednesday night, protesters rallied in front of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 32 Dhanmondi house in Dhaka, a memorial, following a social media call for a "bulldozer procession" ahead of his daughter's scheduled virtual address from exile in India.
