Jeff Ulbrich, who served as the Jets interim head coach for the final 12 games of the 2024 season, has landed a new job. The Falcons are hiring Ulbrich as their defensive coordinator . Ulbrich had been with the Jets since 2021.
While Ulbrich was tasked with running the defense while also adding head coach duties, the Jets stumbled under his leadership in several different ways. New York went 3-9 with Ulbrich as the interim head coach and finished a once-promising season at a disastrous 5-12 mark.
One of those names is interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich. Originally the defensive coordinator but promoted to the role after New York fired Robert Saleh, Ulbrich went 3-9 at the helm and failed to turn around the Jets season. After interviewing for the head coaching job last week, Ulbrich didn't want to wait to be told no by New York.
Robert Saleh hired Ulbrich as the Jets’ defensive coordinator in 2021 after he was hired as head coach. Gang Green ranked last in yards and points allowed in Ulbrich’s first year as a full-time defensive play-caller. However, from 2022-23, the Jets finished in the top five in yards allowed under Ulbrich’s leadership.
