Wind gusts as high as 22 mph on Friday could mean wind chill temperatures in the upper 30s in parts of Palm Beach County.

The First Alert Weather Team says heavy snow has impacted much of the Deep South through Tuesday from New Orleans to Pensacola.

Parts of Florida are under a winter storm warning with multiple inches of snow expected on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The National Weather Service placed northwest Florida under a winter storm warning until 6 a.m. Wednesday, reporting that snow accumulations would total between 2 and 4 inches, with up to 6 inches of snow possible in southern portions of the warning area. An extreme cold warning is also in effect for the area.

A developing winter storm could bring snow and ice to parts the South and Southeast, including Texas and North Florida. Ice will cause hazardous travel through Wednesday along the Gulf Coast.

Preparations are underway from Houston to Atlanta as a rare winter storm sets its sights on the southern U.S., where it's expected to bring a messy mix of heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain that could have a major impact on travel and daily life.
