It also noted that despite an increase in the number of assembly seats from 83 in 2014 to 90 in 2024, the elections were completed in three phases this time as against five in 2014. No major law and order incidents related to the elections were reported,

Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections are reaching their final phase, with voting slated for. Voters will cast their ballots across 40 assembly seats. The election's last phase sees over 3.9 million people ready to vote.

Jammu and Kashmir recorded a voter turnout of 65.58 per cent till 7 pm in the third and final phase of the assembly elections in the Union territory. According to a data shared by the Election Commission,

The polling, which started at 7 am, involved 415 candidates, including former deputy chief ministers Tara Chand and Muzaffar Beig. Over 3.9 million voters were eligible, with the Election Commission setting up 5,060 polling stations to facilitate the process. To encourage participation, 240 special polling stations were established in this phase.

The voting for the last phase of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir is being held today (1 October). A voter turnout of 44 per cent was reported till 1 pm. The maximum voter turnout, of above 50 per cent, was reported in Udhampur and Kathua. Samba followed closely, while Baramulla reported the least voter turnout.

The Sonawari segment was one of the 16 constituencies in three border districts -- Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara -- which went to polls on Tuesday in the third and final phase of voting in Jammu and Kashmir.
