SAN FRANCISCO — A person died early Tuesday in what BART officials said appears to be a collision with a train on the tracks at the Civic Center station. BART spokesperson Jim Allison confirmed the fatality at 10 a.m., about 75 minutes after the emergency first was reported.

One person died in a “major medical emergency” Tuesday morning at BART’s Civic Center station, resulting in major delays throughout the transit agency’s system. The emergency was reported at 8:45 a.m.
