The Children’s Gasparilla Parade brought wholesome pirate revelry to Tampa on Saturday, a family-friendly counterpart to the main parade next weekend. The alcohol-free event was a daylong party for children and their families.

Over 100,000 people gathered for the Gasparilla Children's Parade on Saturday. The parade began at the corner of Bay to Bay and Bayshore Blvd. and went several miles all the way to downtown Tampa. According to EventFest,

TAMPA, Fla. — Gasparilla holds a special place in many Tampa Bay families' hearts, including Devin Humbert. “I've been coming out here since I was about this high. I remember coming out to the Children's parade with my uncle,” Humbert said. It's something you grow up looking forward to, and it eventually becomes part of your heritage.

The Gasparilla Children’s Parade will kick off a week of festivities on Saturday. It will be a fun-filled day as little pirates invade Bayshore. Along the street, seats, grandstands, and gates are already set up.

The city of Tampa has an interactive parking map that displays neighborhood parking for Children's Gasparilla. According to the city, "No Parking" and "Parking By Permit Only" signs will be posted and enforced Friday and Saturday beginning Jan. 17 at 12:01 a.m. - Jan. 18, and at this time, illegally parked vehicles may be ticketed and/or towed.

Families impacted by pediatric cancer will participate in the annual Children's Gasparilla Parade on Saturday. Caroline Wai and her family will join the Krewe of the Nautilus on a float. Other families with the 1Voice Foundation will also be on the float.
