The Kansas City Chiefs have found a quarterback to back up superstar Patrick Mahomes in the 2025 season, signing Gardner Minshew to a one-year deal in NFL free agency.

Former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs on Thursday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 28-year-old is expected to serve as the team’s newest backup quarterback, a title that was previously held by Matt Moore, Chad Henne, Blaine Gabbert and Carson Wentz.

“Former San Francisco 49ers’ offensive tackle Jaylon Moore reached an agreement today on a two-year, $30 million deal, including $21.24 million fully guaranteed at signing with Kansas City Chiefs, per sources,” Schefter tweeted.
