Australia won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and qualified for the World Test Championship Final by defeating India 3-1 in the series. Key performances came from Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Scott Boland.

Besides defeating India 3-1 to pocket the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia also sealed a berth in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s in June, later this year.

Team India will miss out on a place in the World Test Championship final for the first time since the tournament's inception, as the side faced a 6-wicket defeat to Australia in the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Sunday.

Australia have beaten India by six wickets in the fifth Test to secure a 3-1 series victory. Debutant Beau Webster hit the winning runs as the hosts reached their target of 162 in a low-scoring match in Sydney. Scott Boland had earlier finished with six for 45 as India – who had eked out a four-run first innings lead – were dismissed for 157.

Eyeing a historic series victory, Australia made early headway in their run chase at the SCG before paceman Prasidh Krishna spearheaded a fightback for India.
