The Bose Corp. has bought-out McIntosh Group solidifying its entry into the high-end market with its purchase of one of the tech industry's most noted, high-end equipment manufacturer.

In a shock move, Bose just announced a deal to acquire the McIntosh Group, the parent company of both McIntosh and Sonus Faber. That’s right, the biggest name in consumer audio, best known for its noise-canceling headphones and wireless speakers, now owns not one but two of the most storied names in luxury hi-fi.

Bose just acquired premium audio brand McIntosh to help increase its foothold in the premium and automotive markets.

For its part, Sonus faber — the Italian audio brand that McIntosh Group has owned since 2007 — is also no stranger to in-car audio. Its systems can be found in cars from legendary Italian marques Lamborghini, Maserati, and Pagani.

McIntosh Group is the parent company of high-performance brands like McIntosh and Sonus faber, known for amplifiers, speakers and turntables that will now come under the Bose fold. The acquisition aims to offer a breadth of products to consumers, from earbuds and Bluetooth speakers to premium home and car sound systems.
