The Detective Jonathan Diller Scholarship Fund will honor the Long Island native and support students who demonstrate leadership, resilience and a passion for helping others.

A new scholarship fund has been created in honor of NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller, the Massapequa resident who was shot and killed in March during a traffic stop in Far Rockaway, Queens. Announced Monday at Mulcahy’s Pub & Concert Hall in Wantagh, the scholarship will benefit students at St. Mary’s High School, Diller’s alma mater, in Manhasset.

A Detective Diller scholarship was created in honor of the fallen NYPD officer. His widow, Stephanie, joined to announce the scholarship in his memory.
