HMS Agamemnon, the Royal Navy's sixth Astute-class nuclear-powered attack submarine, has completed its construction phase at Barrow-in-Furness and will soon be launched into the water.

HMS Agamemnon, one of the new Astute-class submarines, was formally launched earlier today. Engineers carried out a delicate operation to move the 7,400-tonne boat from the construction hall into the neighbouring basin. She has been stored at the BAE Systems’ facility in Barrow.

The Royal Navy's production of new nuclear attack submarines has reached a huge milestone as the sixth of seven planned submarines has been unveiled in Barrow.

The sixth of seven Royal Navy attack nuclear-powered submarines has been launched. The Astute-class HMS Agamemnon, named after the ancient Greek king, was hoisted into the water by BAE Systems in Barrow-in Furness.
