Last week, it felt like Utah and UCF were the teams to beat in the race for a Big 12 championship. But the conference standings feel more wide open than ever after Arizona and Colorado pulled off massive road upsets. Chaos and parity have defined the conference so far this season. That seems unlikely to change.

UCF dropped four spots in the latest Big 12 Power rankings after the Knights’ 48-21 loss to Colorado last week. Meanwhile, Iowa State (4-0) took over the top spot this week, receiving nine first-place votes and 246 points from a media panel that regularly covers the Big 12.

With no team truly standing out above the rest, the new-look Big 12 appears more wide open than any other Power Four conference early this season. Houston, TCU and Cincinnati aren't exactly in the conference championship conversation, but middle-tier teams such as UCF, Arizona and even Colorado could sneak into the Big 12 title game.
